Every time I login, the balloon in the top left corner shows an orange ball. Clicking it shows no new comments.
Same for the “Unread” category, which often says there’s “1” and then there isn’t.
They both disappear after following the links but reappear after logging out or posting something.
I’m on Brave browser.
Not a huge deal but just FYI. I assume it’s a cookie thing?

Anyway, I can’t picture the “orange ball”. I think I’ve never seen it. Could you please share a screenshot?
As much as I remember, I believe that the ball in the top left corner is green. Sometimes blue.

Well, that’s very interesting.
I have always seen the ball’s colour as blue. But now that you shared the screenshot, orange is also very cool. 
You might also check your “notification” settings. Look for the bell.
what threw me is when someone liked one of my posts, and I didn’t realize there were notifications for that. I’d click on it, thinking I was going to see a quote of my post, or at least me mentioned. After a few times, I realized what was going on.
As you can see, it is in blue, not in orange.
Perhaps it is a dark theme thing or some sort of “preferences” that I am missing.
