What Created God?

I already explained that. No your emotions, your soul, is not a creation.

Which is my point and question? Where is the very start? Because at some point there must be an end to the infinity.

Randomness.

So death was randomly created out of nothing and then death made God?

He, she or they evolved from monkey gods.

No. Randomness “created” death out of randomness.

Per many a religious view, God is everything. Everything has no location, and anything that came before it is included in it.

Donning my pedantic hat, our ancestors were not monkeys. Hominids are different from monkeys and monkeys are our cousins.

Richard Dawkins tells the story of a lady who claimed that the Earth rests on the back of a giant turtle. He asked what does the turtle stand on, and they told him "I know what you are implying. Let me tell you this -It’s turtles all the way down.”

What’s wrong with turtles all the way down?

  1. On “matter cannot be created nor destroyed”: science is descriptive, nor prescriptive. We observe that in the universe as we know it, mass energy does not spontaneously appear.
However, we’re not the boss of the universe. If it wants to make an apple appear in your hand ex nihilo, that’s the universe’s prerogative. We would then rewrite our laws, if this is a widely observed phenomenon.

So in itself it doesn’t tell us anything about how/whether a universe, or a god can exist.

  1. Theists have a number of responses to the OP. They all (I think..let me know if I’m wrong) basically posit God is a special case. The most famous response is the Kalam cosmological argument, that says everything with a beginning has a cause. And God, being timeless doesn’t require a cause.

  2. The true answer in my view is that we don’t have an answer, neither for God (if it existed) nor the universe. Whether we say the universe/god is finite or infinite, there’s an explanatory gap. And it’s hard to see how that gap could ever be crossed.

Apparently, the earliest well-known version of this anecdote appears in Hume. Russell popularised a version of it in the early 20th century. Now Dawkins. Anecdotes get diluted over time, just as the public intellectuals become less interesting.

Terry Pratchett was an English author whose cosmology was this. A turtle, then four elephants, then a flat, circular Earth. He was a comedy writer, so he gets a pass.

Special pleading? Yes, to a theist, God would likely be the most special thing imaginable, as you surely understand. So the special pleading goes without saying. If I am right, the nature of these discussions is therefore one of conceptual incommensurability and little progress, with parties arguing past each other. Forgive my metaphilosophical cynicism, but it’s all very philosophical.

Thanks..

And that’s the point of this website no?

What is the definition of “created” or “creating”? Does creating involve manual crafting on the materials to make something new? Or what form of process is called “create”?

Whatever the case, God needs to analysed for what it is made of or composed of. With this information, we can discuss further into the central question, what created God.

IOW, what is God made of, and what do you mean by “created”?

Endless debates without resolution? I would hope not.

No worries, and I’m happy to elaborate on any of those points.

I just wanted to give the basic summary before getting into the back-and-forths

Oh yeah that’s fair, I was just curious on everone’s ideas

Supposedly he’s a spirit I think? Idk someone whose religious please correct me because I know I’m wrong, and by created I mean like he made it, he’s the one who took nothing and made it into something.
