TPF Archive: Can’t find an old discussion? Start here

All discussions from the previous site, covering October 2015 to February 26 2026, are preserved in our read-only archive:

The new forum is a fresh start, so old threads are not hosted here. To find a past discussion, search the archive site.

If you need help locating a specific thread, feel free to ask in this topic.

EDIT:

Note that there is a link to the archive in the sidebar menu, under “More”:

Hey @Jamal what’s good man? It’s Manuel, I forgot about the switch so I did not come prepared. My previous account is gone right?

I still don’t know how to use this well- am having some trouble customizing my profile. Any tips on this?

Thanks for all the good work.

Welcome back, Manuel :waving_hand:

Regarding the customization of your profile, the system won’t let you update your avatar (profile image) unless you’re a subscriber. If you’re already a subscriber (having subscribed on the old site), I can make an exception—just let me know. Alternatively, I can cancel that subscription and you can subscribe here.

Or, of course, don’t subscribe at all. The choice is yours.

There are many other customizations. You can do these in Preferences.

For example, change the colour scheme and text size in Preferences > Interface; edit your Profile; or configure your Notifications.

It’s too complex to absorb it all at once, so take it one step at a time and let me know when you encounter hurdles.

Also, check out the other topics in the Help category.

Note too that you can ask questions in the The Shoutbox chat channel. Just @-mention me and I’ll get a notification. I always keep an eye on the Shoutbox anyway.

Alternatively, you can start a new topic in Feedback. This topic we’re in right now is best left for questions and issues concerning the archive.

New features just deployed on archive.thephilosophyforum.com:

  • Category index pages
  • Category links in discussions
  • User profile pages, linked to from posts
  • ‘Back to top’ button for very long discussions
  • Comment permalinks: a small anchor link on each comment so you can share a direct link to a specific comment.
