Guys, Thought does not articulate with Matter. This is normal; this is a basic truism of Reality. That is exactly why you always fail to solve the mind-body problem: you cannot articulate Thought directly to Matter because Thought articulates to Life, and Life articulates to Matter.

As biological beings, we are great apes. That is simply what we are. Therefore, I am painfully writing this code to force you to mentally simulate the Thought-Life articulation.
So, this discussion causally exists at the Thought level—in the relational, causal, controlled space of Thought—and it is actually controlling your biological behavior of aping, your internal biological mimicry causality.
Do you see the Thought-Life articulation now? It is simply meta-causality. Thought causality is a meta-causality of biological causality. It is a causality of causality; a higher, autonomous order of causality operating above Life, exactly in the same way that real numbers are a meta-level of integers. Catch it?

The meta-mimicry—the mental simulation running under the control of this gorgeous thread you are reading—is physically implemented by spikes in your neurons, calcium membrane transfers, etc. These are strictly material phenomena, which are ultimately under the control of your DNA. See it now? It is the exact same concept of meta-causality: Life causality is a meta-causality of Matter causality.
This is the complete, unbroken causal articulation of Thought to Matter: Thought is the meta-meta-causality of Matter (and Matter, by the way, is the meta-causality of Quantum multiplicity).
