Are you able to click the “Reply” button at the bottom of the page? There is a “Please wait an hour between your posts in this topic” notice that always shows even if you can reply, so just wanted to make sure you weren’t misunderstanding that?
I won’t say anything more beyond giving my opinion that moderation is quite difficult. Part of the difficulty comes from the idea that a moderator must be an interlocutor in every detailed conversation they moderate.
There’s a hidden post of yours from ~1 hour ago where you say that your previous post is missing, so it must be that your hidden post is counted towards the limit.
I see. Yes well the hiding is questionable too then. I’m unable to see it.
He is my interlocutor in this thread. And is giving extremely low effort, engagement and has made clear the situation,
It’s just a shameful one.
This is illustrative of your tendency to engage in hyperbole when you or the position you are defending are pushed. You flagged other users whose posts were deleted as a result - they haven’t complained - and your own approach in the discussion you must admit is not at all philosophical. If fixating on @Jamal distracts you, fine, but I doubt you’re winning hearts and minds here.
No, I must not admit that.
I actually do what this forum tries to do in real life and the benchmarks here are inconsistent and utterly absurd for human communication. While it may not be for me to tell an administrator what to do it is 100% obliging in me to defend against patently weak and personal moderation.
I have no interest in complaining about objections to my positions but you’re suggestion thst this is the case is intensely dishonest. My complaint is about inconsistent and dishonest moderation - which makes your response all the more problematic.
This post was not notified, it has been cherry picked and Jamal is, obviously, all of those things. There is no hyperbole to be found - just rants and denials. Ironic.
and Athena’s post was not removed until this thread was opened. Another indication of underhanded, performativeness. The dismissals here are just as bizarre, given none of you have a clue about the surrounding context.
the couple of people who actually read the post in situ have messaged me to support that it shouldn’t have been removed.. if moderation is going to be this way, admit it. The dishonesty is the problem.
I’m done with this issue. It is abhorrent for a philosophy forum. My real world experience makes this very clear. As you were, i guess. But I will always call out bullshit where it lies.
More hyperbole. We have our faults, but we’re not abhorrent, bizarre, clueless, intensely dishonest etc. Your political posts tend to be poorly informed and unphilosophical and the thread is in the political philosophy category, where more effort is expected. That’s all that happened. Your rhetoric is divorced from reality and is preventing you from solving the problem by simply writing better posts. And I do believe that. I’m not making it up.
This isn’t worth the time. You have decided what you’ve decided, which is divorced from the actual lived reality, relevant to this exchange. Plus posters who agree with me, who feel unable to voice it here.
I’ll just walk way. That’s all you can do in such situations.
I do not understand your surprise here. It has been clearly stated on multiple occasions that this is not the US, you do not have freedom of speech here. Its a dictatorship, Jamal is the dictator. The rules and enforcement are not meant to be objective or even fair, they are meant to create a platform for specific discussions with specific parameters.
This is not news, its the way its always been…although rules/preference have been stricter and less tolerant.
Why bother complaining? Is it the principal or something?
The fact that it stymies good conversation - ironic given your pushback (which is accepted. Jamal is absolutely that, and I have understood that from day 1).
That and dictators are, almost universally, pricks with axes to grind that they rarely admit. Dishonest, in a word.
It amazes me that the moderators allow you to treat them in ways that we are not permitted to treat ordinary users. That level of generosity is remarkable, but it’s hard to see how this level of brazenness can go on indefinitely. Are you trying to get banned at this point? Because I am guessing that in three days time you will have cooled down a bit. Maybe wait and see how you feel after the emotions have settled?
Frankly, I think discussions regarding political philosophy should be required to not name any nations or currently ongoing conflicts period. Historical battles or wars and related topic (Siege of Troy, Treaty of Versailles, WWII, etc) can be allowed.
But ongoing conflicts just lead to purposeless. inflammatory rhetoric that completely and consistently mask and drown out any actual philosophy and intellectual merit.
There’s no reason you can’t perfectly mirror any ongoing conflict with either a historical or hypothetical equivalent. It might seem inorganic at first since warfare and politics have evolved. But it is beyond doable with a bit of tact. Something that all respectable members of this forum should possess and use like second nature.
Just another reason why we can’t have nice things. ![]()
I’m calling a spade a spade. Window dressing doesn’t quite interest me.
It’s not generous to be treated this way. Twilight zone stuff.
Sure; I can get on with that.
No, it stymies conversations Jamal doesnt like. There are still good conversations just not good conversations about subjects the dear leader finds…lacking.
Sure - but, you’re not wrong about all else. Bizarre attitude for a philosopher. I’m just… doing what i’m told now i guess. I enjoy other posters too much to want to be banned.
This website is governed under a very strict jurisdiction. Anything remotely perceivable as hate speech or something and his license can be revoked and he may even face real world consequences including fines or even something more severe.
Please research the facts and accept that you do not know all there is to know and never will before speaking, please. Yes, it is very difficult as a human being to accept this. But once you do, life will become much easier and less things will bother you. That I can assure you.
I know. Your post was pointless but thanks.
Which is why it’s even weirder he utterly refused to engage with consistent hate speech from several posters on the old forum - two particular posters, at the least, did this almost daily. Let’s just count ourselves lucky we don’t have to deal with that particular inconsistency anymore. Clearly wasn’t worried about the Law.
