Due to the limitations of the hosted Pro plan…

I think that, over time, it would be possible to port the Chrome extension into a TPF plugin if it proves useful. But it would run entirely on the client side, so it should work.

This may be of interest:

The upside is, of course, that identifying and following specific conversations would be very easy with this. The downside is that replying to multiple people in one single reply (which people tend to do) will ought to be avoided. I don’t think that downside is too major, as the visual layout of nested replies will unconsciously inhibit that tendency.

I’m personally not a fan of the nested replies look, but I’m also itching to follow specific conversations.

I didn’t even know about that. I’ve enabled it for this topic just to see what it’s like.

I don’t like it much. What I liked was @Paul’s innovation of “internal replies” on the old old forum, introduced in addition to—not as an alternative to—normal replies. They were single-depth nested replies designed for short responses, as I recall.

I feel the same way, and I find the format of nested replies to be quite odd.

I like the format as it already is.

Me too, but nested replies can be turned on per topic, so if the OP and participants of a topic agreed, maybe it would make sense to turn it on if they wanted to easily follow specific exchanges.

Notice that if you arrive here from the notification, it should show you just this conversation thread. That’s genuinely useful.

Yes, it has happened as you described.

Well, perhaps I will get used to this tool whenever the participants decide to implement it on a topic.
