Is an uncomfirmed e-mail a problem?

Hi,

I just re-registered here, using my work-email, since I can’t register at home (due to an unsupported browser). I then changed the e-mail to my own e-mail at home, but I won’t be able to confirm that e-mail once I come home (due to said unsupported browser).

Not receiving e-mails is not a problem for me personally. I can’t remember receiving a single e-mail from the old site in 8(?) years.

If an uncofirmed e-mail is not a problem for TPF, it’s not a problem for me.

Cheers,
Dawnstorm (back again, hopefully)

I see now that until I confirm my new e-mail, the work-email will remain the default one. That’s a problem for me. In a worst-case scenario, I’ll probably ask to delete my account. Is there a solution?

Your account’s email address is confirmed and you are free to use the site normally. Is there still a problem?

EDIT: Also, welcome back :waving_hand:

The problem is the following:

If I go to my preferences, the confirmed e-mail is my work e-mail. I intended to use that as a stop-gap measure, but I can’t use that e-mail for the account. I cannot let this e-mail address be associated with anything private for an extended period of time.

Thus I tried to change the e-mail address to my own (stupidly ignoring that it would also require re-confirmation).

I’m aware that I can post now, but - to summarise:

a) I can’t let this account stay associated with its current primary e-mail address, and
b) I can’t confirm the new one.

There are several workarounds I can think of, but none I’m willing to do for a single forum membership (this is not a slight against TPF; it’s just me not liking clutter).

Sorry for causing problems by being (a) outdated in terms of computers and (b) stubborn in terms of personality.

The welcome back might be premature. If the account stays associated with the current primary e-mail, I’ll have to delete the account.

This is a nice forum, and if I have to go again, I’ll definitely be back once I’m forced to buy a new computer.

Don’t worry, we can change your email address and I can confirm it for you manually. I’ll send you a PM.

Thank you very much; that would be a great help.
