About a decade late, I’ve discovered the utility of tags mainly because I’m now using Bear App for note-taking and it uses tags extensively. So how is the tag store managed on this site? Can users create new tags or can only mods and admins?
By default, only admins, moderators, and Trust Level 3 users can add new tags. I expect you and others will be getting to TL3 over the next couple of months, because it’s based on engagement.
It seems reasonable to leave this as it is, but I’m open to objections.
That’s fine. You wouldn’t want it to be open slather.

Yes noticed that 
. Still a bit vague on how to use - tried generating some for my recent thread I seemed to be able to do that but not sure how they show up.
They show up on the topics on the main page, next to the categories, also in the main menu. Probably other places.
EDIT: There’s also a tags selector next to the category selector in the tab menu at the top of the various index pages.
