This doesn’t seem right, this is a misunderstanding, not an impractical consequence. The student is using their understanding of determinism to justify making an entirely different decision -not to study- than they would have otherwise made. That will have consequences. Perhaps that move itself was determined, who knows? But to get the grade they want they have to do the studying, determinism or no.
Inevitability doesn’t mean inevitable regardless of the students own actions. The student is as much a part of the casual picture as anything else.
