I would not say that the history is in the now if I thought it was somehow an idea of inheritance. I mean that the story of progress covers over the lack of progress, explicitly with respect to race.
If so then I have given a bad description. The means to salvation are easy enough: take care of others. Not too different from most religions, tho with a materialistic demand.
He’s a pretty hardcore “America first” type guy (although, let’s set Israel aside to avoid that mess of discussion) and it’s always seemed to me he was talking about America now. I’ve had to accept he’s not as crazy as i thought.
He’s taken a hard stance against Tucker Carlson and Candance Owens, so I’ll give him credit for having some independence. Sort of like Bill Maher and maybe Fetterman (although he’s sounding almost entirely Republican on hot button issues).
Fair enough. I would also give him credit for both of those moves. Weirdly, I am far, far softer on “right wing” influencers than anyone else I know on the left, but Ben also seem to be screeding even when he was ‘correct’. He seems far more balanced now.
Maher is a great example of that, but he’s just never changed. Always straight down the middle. learned from the best in Hitch.
The alternatives, what are they? Have we tried them? Results?
How can a bad thing be valuable? Somewhere something has gone wrong with your analysis. Materialism isn’t a malady per se.
There’s a Jesus parable about 3 servants being given money and the one who didn’t invest the money, instead burying it, is severely rebuked. The other two double the amount given to them.
Jesus was also able to acquire a reliable sponsor for his ministry, mostly women, including Mary Magdalene.
There is the camel and the eye of the needle story though. Christians are the most charitable folk around, with a global presence.
